What We Do to Prevent Illness
1. Heat Illness Prevention Protocol
- Water, shade, and breaks are required, especially in temps over 80°
- Cool-down rest breaks are mandatory every 2 hours when it’s 95°
- Supervisors monitor the team and weather conditions in real-time
- Crews are trained to recognize early signs of heat exhaustion and stroke
2. Respiratory Protection
- Ventilation is provided when working with strong chemicals or inside enclosed spaces
- Respirators or dust masks are issued when needed, per Cal/OSHA regs
3. Cleanliness and Hygiene
- Access to handwashing or sanitizing stations is ensured
- Regular site cleaning minimizes exposure to infectious material
4. Medical Response Readiness
- First aid kits are fully stocked and inspected
- Emergency protocols are posted on every site
- Supervisors are trained in emergency medical procedures
5. Employee Training and Acclimatization
- New hires and seasonal workers are gradually acclimatized to working in heat
- All employees are trained to spot signs of illness in themselves or coworkers
