In the world of painting, results are only as good as your prep. Rushing the job, using the wrong tools, or skipping key steps might feel like time savers, but those mistakes always show up later.
Whether you’re painting interiors, exteriors, residential, or commercial spaces, here are four common mistakes that compromise quality, and what to do instead.
1. Using the Wrong Tool for the Job
Grabbing a screwdriver instead of a scraper or a bucket instead of a ladder seems harmless. But when it leads to damaged surfaces, uneven lines, or injury, it’s not worth it.
Do this instead: Take a minute to get the right tool. It’s safer, more efficient, and it protects the quality of your work.
2. Skipping Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Old gloves, fogged goggles, or no respirator? Skipping PPE is risky. It can slow you down, affect your precision, and in some cases, endanger your health.
Do this instead: Always inspect your gear. Make sure your PPE is in good condition and suited for the task at hand. It helps you work better and safer.
